Playing online with Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch is fairly simple because most of the configuration is already done with the most recent versions. All you need to do is use the launcher’s Multiplayer tab and click the Launch Doomseeker button provided on that tab.

Clicking that button will launch a separate application named Doomseeker which acts as a way to browse servers, download required mods, and actually join the games. You can search for specific servers by using the search bar in the top right.

Additionally, you can do more advanced filters by clicking the filter icon and adding some settings there.

<aside> 🚨 Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch already configures Doomseeker to filter for megagame, the IWAD of MM8BDM, as a WAD. If you remove this filter, you’ll begin seeing servers for other games such as Doom.

Once you’ve found a server you want to play on, just double click it. This may prompt you to download some mods that you’re missing. Just click the Install button and Doomseeker will handle it for you.

If any of the downloads fail, that may mean the particular mod is currently private and not designed to be downloaded or hosted with yet.

Once all the downloads are finished, the game will start up and you’ll be connected to the server!
